Executive Committee Elections Timetable and rules

We will be holding elections to elect our new Executive Committee. 

Candidates will be asked to submit one A4, one sided leaflet as their manifesto.  This must not include written endorsements but can include photographs, so long as written permission from the subjects of the photo(s) is submitted at the same time as the manifesto.  The manifesto must be submitted electronically to: [email protected] who will confirm receipt within 1 working day. Nominations cannot be sent on behalf of another person.

Any candidate may be nominated for more than one post but may only be elected to one post. Officer posts are only open to those who have been paid up members of LDW for at least one year.

Election timetable

 Deadline for receipt of nominations is: 15th

  1. Manifestos to be submitted to the returning officer by 2nd Jan
  2. Ballots to be emailed out on 5th Jan
  3. Voting closes on 23rd Jan

Rules

  • All candidates, proposers and seconders must be paid up members of LDW. In addition, candidates for officer posts must also have been members of LDW for at least one year.
  • All contested elections shall be held online by secret ballot and Single Transferable Vote via Mi-Voice
  • LDW elections shall conform to the rules of the Federal Party, which are available upon request
  • Candidates must not carry out any activities during the election period which may be viewed as threatening
  • Contested elections: Candidates may submit manifestos to be accompany the ballots. Statements should be on one side of A4 and not more than 300 words. Any photos included should be of high quality.
  • All candidates are asked state if they are a member, a supporter or in any way affiliated to another group which seeks to promote women in the social or political sphere but this is entirely voluntary. There will be an option of ‘Prefer not to say’. Where declared membership of those groups will be made available alongside the ballot.

In particular, we draw attention to the following:

No candidate may incur, or directly or indirectly authorise or cause to be incurred, any expenses on campaigning at any time before or after the close of nominations. The list of names and addresses of LDW members is confidential, and shall not be released for the purpose of the election.
